The risk varies depending on the scale of the event and whether it occurs indoors or outdoors. Compared with large-scale indoor events, outdoor events and events with a small number of participants have less risk of spreading. The following table describes the different rules applied based on the characteristics of these two events.

*** Please note that this exception does not apply to indoor TK-12 productions sponsored by the school.​​ According to state guidelines, masks are always required in indoor school environments. Indoor TK-12 school-sponsored performances include any performing arts activities supervised, organized, or sponsored by the school, and use students as part of their curriculum or extracurricular programs, regardless of whether the performance is on the school campus or in an off-site venue.

Employees*: All employees, whether vaccinated or not, must wear masks when working indoors or riding in shared vehicles. If employees are alone in the room or actively eat or drink, they do not need to wear a mask indoors. Public Health strongly recommends that all employees who eat or drink indoors keep at least 6 feet away from others.

Performers or speakers: Performers or speakers must wear masks indoors, unless performing tasks that cannot be accomplished by wearing masks.
